A short of summary of RUS 104 studio life

Assalamualaikum.

Studio life has taught me so much since the beginning of the class.In my own perspective,
The integrated studio are not only emphasizing us to learn about the subject of each major,
but it is exposing us how to work as a group.

Integrated Studio RUS 104  have given me a priceless moments and wide range of knowledge.
Starting from the first project, we where given task to do a portrait of ourselves and a liitle brief
of yourself in 5 years later. This task is to train us to know why are we being sent to study here.
Not only in it just for to fill in the blanks,but to be somebody in the future.

If im elaborating the whole picture, youre all will bored with the stories of mine. So to make it simple, i ll summarise the whole picture. From the beginning, were trained to do basic sketches, so that we can sharpen our basic sketching or drafing skills.The sketches project are
to exposed us with the proportion of view,differentiate between axonometric and perspective.
For the project development,it is to know what actually we will be doing when involved in reality of constrcution industry.

After that, the groupworks are to train us how to commence work during a project initiation.
How to distribute works among members and cathing up with the deadlines. Unconciously
we are exposed to a little fraction of the works in reality.Given the last project,it is the most
challenging part of the studioworks,whereby the job given to us may be a little out of our league.
I find it challenging for all of us to endure it. This project is like a real situation of proposing
a building,not only architecturally but including all the documentation of costing, planning,considering the building services and security and timeframe for the project completion.

But at last,we all have pass through the projects. It is up to the lecturer to evaluate our marks,
but the most important thing that is the experience gained,knowledge absorbed, and above all
the friendship that ties all of our HBP students.

I hope all of us will stay united and stand together for the next studio projects. And lastly i would like to thanks all the lecturers for your teachings knowledge.

Hi there and Assalamualaikum to all!

During the studio projects, there some moments that i would like to
recapture back in this blog. Every single pictures shares a value
or a nostalgic moments during our times as a group together
through the bittersweet moments and endurance of hardships
when it comes to submitting the projects

Project 10 : Exhibition

Assalamualaikum to all !

Finally, the efforts of the previous 9 project has come to an end, 

that is an exhibtion daywhere all our hardworks are being display 

at the Drum, HBP school.

This project are the final group task as we were consist of two 

group merged into one big group consisting of 34 members.

Our group were being given the tas to decorate the upper part 

of the exhibition, handling the display of project 8 and project 9.

Colourful Dominos were the theme for this exhibition, Decorations of

the booth are compulsory to display a similarity to the colourful 

dominoes theme.

A lot of hard work has been spent to finish the decorations.

Project 9 : Integrated Project ( Group Project )

Assalamualaikum to all !!

After finishing the previous project, then we proceed onto the week
9th project.Because the major analysis has opted the most suitable
site to be developed are site no.3 that are located besides the night
market.

For this project, we are required to proposed a Batu Feringghi Information
Centre design.Apart of proposing a design, we also need to produce a
detailed report on the design schematic. Almost all of the actor part are included
in the report.

Within 3 weeks,we are urged to produce another detailed site analysis of
the chosen site,that is a micro site analysis.

After the site analysis finished, the presentation boards of the Batu Feringghi
Information Centre are the next boards to be done.

The presentation boards are consisting of a proposed site plan, plan, all
elevations and section of the building.Also some perspectives where included
to visualize how the building are fits or interact with the existing site.
Some interior perspectives also being shown to give the client roughly
of the interior environment feels.

In addition,materials selection are also being included on the principal sections,
showing that we have done some structural study,although it is not closed to
reality in construction. Building services also being considered like fire escape
route,fire exit,sprinkler system and security systems.Types of devices or related
equipments are selected according to the building spatial arrangement.

Project 8 : Revisited ( Group works )

Assalamualaikum again to all!

Project 8 is mark as the second last group project given to us. This project
arethe a multi-disciplinary task.Hence it is a group existing of a 17 people
with different field of courses. The new group formation are to accomodate
the requirement of the projects given.

The project 8, revisited is also focusing on site analysis of the given site.
Batu feringghi is chosen for this time. A site visit is conducted during the 8th
week. We were given a day to conduct a survey on the site.

The site analysis is divided into two types of analysis:

Project 8A : Environmental Analysis

This board are showing the analysis of the sun orientation,prevailing wind
 and rain data.Aside from that, the facilities are analysed,along together
with some focal points along the site. Cultural attraction also being accounted
to the analysis.

Project 8B : Spatial Analysis

This second board exhibit the analsis of the type of poluution that occurs
within the site.These analysis is to determine where are the best opted site
to be chosenfor the development of Batu ferringghi Information Centre

Project 7 : Interlink ( Group Project )

Assalamualaikum to all bloggers.

It has already been 7 weeks of integrated studio. During this
seventh project, we are formed into groups consisting of 9 people.
This project are focused on group works. This project are named
'Interlink' or in other name it is call a footbridge.

We are required to do the site analysis based on the given site, that is HBP
School itself. We are being given a two optional proposed site. The first site
was between E48 lecture hall and the studio and secondly, the gap between
HBP resources centre and the main office building.

Based on our own analysis, the first site seems to hace much more potential
compared to the other proposed site. Have a look at our analysis.

After we have fully analyse the site potential, we started to do design schematics.

Identifying what is crucial for a bridge to be the designed with the existing condition

are being our main elemental structure of work. 

The design was derived from a digital pattern of a circuit board. Why'd we chose 

circuit patterns?This is because we want to emphasize digital look to a condusive 

environment. Creating a pattern of light  along the pedestrian bridge to highlight the 

the surrounding with a focal point. 

Here's some of what our team has resulted after two weeks of effort.

The drawings are consist of plans,elevation and some conceptional ideas that 

are included in the design.

Lastly,i would like to give a big clap to all my group members. Without our teamwork,
This project wouldnt be done.

Project 6 : Project Development

Assalamualaikum again to all and a very good day to all!

Week 6, the projects given were related to project development.This project
is giving an exposure to student how the commencement of project
development in reality. To study the interrelationship between actors
and the role of each actor.

For my part, i've to determine my role of planners, define what planners do
 in reality according to RIBA outline of work. To make it more eye-catching,
we must create a mind-maping design to show a simpler way for people to
 understand roughly what does a planner do.

Talking about the design of mind-mapping, the RIBA outline of work is like a
cycle of series work progress. I've derived the cycle concept into a radial
arrangement  of work stages.
